I don’t always watch films made by The Asylum, but when I do, Treat Williams is starring. If not for Treat I would have surely passed this one over, as I do with ever other film The Asylum delivers, but I just had to see how Treat works these days. I of course thought to myself “It can’t be THAT bad.”, but of course I was wrong. Age of Dinosaurs is not only a film that Treat Williams could not save (I doubt he was trying to), but also a flick I suggest you stay away from – even for the laughs.

When a biotech firm creates a set of living dinosaurs through flesh-regeneration technology, a former firefighter must rescue his daughter from the chaos when the dinosaurs escape their museum exhibit and wreak terror on Los Angeles.

The story is as simple as it gets, with mild conflict thrown in here and there to go along with the pathetic dialogue. If you watch one of these Asylum films then you should know to expect this, and if you don’t, well…you’ll find out within the first 5 minutes of runtime. I am a big fan of dinosaurs and was glad to see that there was a lot of dinosaur action written into the film, and this action was complimented with lots of kill sequences and deaths of main characters. While not impressive, the story overall was not as bad as I had expected it to be.

The story was not as bad as I predicted, but the direction sure was. After the opening sequence and its poor acting and horrible CGI effects you realize that you have stepped into an experience worse than most Syfy films. The experience never gets better, and even with the numerous kill sequences they were not even laughable and of video game quality at best. Treat Williams was fun to watch to an extent, but watching him suffer in such a flick was a bit of a disappointment as a fan of his work.

Overall, Age of Dinosaurs is another Asylum film that fails to deliver even a decent experience. Aside from starring Treat Williams I see no other reason to even consider watching this piece.
